Series consists of a diary describing Murie's Hudson Bay expedition. During this expedition Murie travelled by canoe and dog team from Cochrane Ont. to Kuujjuarapik and Whapmagoostui (Great Whale River), Nunavik Quebec in 1914 and from Moose Factory to Inukjuak (formerly Port Harrison) in 1915. He returned to Moose Factory by steamer the second year. The aim of the expedition was to collect specimens of birds and moles from the area. He collected approximately 600 mammals and 1300 bird specimens. In the diary he describes in detail the habits and distribution of wildlife and also the vegetation and weather. There is extensive information in the diary concerning the customs, traditions and living conditions of the First Nations and Inuit of the Hudson Bay area.
