L'Heureux-Dubé, Claire, 1927- : Née à Québec le 7 septembre 1927, Claire L'Heureux-Dubé fait ses études au Monastère des Ursulines à Rimouski, au collège Notre-Dame de Bellevue et à l'Université Laval à Québec où elle obtient un diplôme en droit en 1951. Admise au Barreau du Québec en 1952, elle est membre de l'étude Bard, L'Heureux et Philippon (1952-1969) devenu ensuite L'Heureux, Philippon, Garneau, Tourigny, St-Arnaud et Associés (1969-1973). Elle est nommée c.r. en 1969. Entre 1970 et 1973, elle est chargée du cours de formation professionnelle en droit de la famille au Barreau du Québec et entre 1973 et 1976, elle devient commissaire à la Commission d'enquête sur certains problèmes au sein du ministère de la Main-d'oeuvre et de l'Immigration dans la ville de Montréal.
En février 1973, Claire L'Heureux-Dubé est nommée juge à la Cour supérieure du Québec; en octobre 1979, juge à la Cour d'appel du Québec et le 15 avril 1987, juge à la Cour suprême du Canada. Elle prend sa retraite en septembre 2002. Elle est par la suite nommée juge en résidence à l'Université Laval à Québec. Entre 2002 et 2008, elle préside diverses associations et organismes et elle est invitée à participer à de nombreuses conférences nationales et internationales.
Parallèlement à ses activités d'avocate et de juge, elle est déléguée au Conseil général du Barreau de Québec (1968-1970), membre du Conseil consultatif de l'administration de la justice de la province de Québec (1967-1973), vice-présidente du Conseil canadien des consommateurs (1970-1973) et vice-présidente de l'Institut Vanier de la famille (1972-1973). De 1972 à 1976, elle devient présidente du Comité des droits des personnes et de la famille, ainsi que du Comité du tribunal de la famille à l'Office de la révision du Code civil de la province de Québec. Pendant cette période, elle est aussi membre de l'Association canadienne du Barreau, de l'Institut canadien de l'administration de la justice, du bureau de direction de la Société internationale du droit de la famille (1977) et en devient la vice-présidente (1982-1988) et membre du Conseil national de la Fondation des droits de l'homme (1980-1984).
Au cours des années 1980 et 1990, elle préside la Section canadienne de la Commission internationale des Juristes, de l'Association québécoise pour l'étude comparative du droit et du Comité de rédaction de la Revue du Barreau canadien. Elle est l'auteur de plusieurs articles et elle est membre de nombreuses associations nationales et internationales.
Au cours de sa carrière, elle a reçu plusieurs décorations honorifiques des universités de Dalhousie, d'Ottawa, de Montréal, de Rimouski, de l'Université Laval, de l'Université Gonzaga (USA), de l'Université Concordia, de l'Université Queen, de l'Université Windsor, de l'Université Victoria, du Barreau du Québec, du Barreau canadien, du Conseil canadien de la magistrature et de différentes associations nationales et internationales. Elle reçoit le prix Touchstone 2003 du Barreau canadien. Elle est nommée Compagnon de l'Ordre du Canada le 26 janvier 2004, reçoit le grade de Grand officier de l'Ordre national du Québec le 23 juin 2004 et reçoit l'Ordre de la Pléiade Ordre de la francophonie et du dialogue des cultures le 5 juillet 2008.
