Fonds consists of two letters, one from J.S. Woodsworth and one to him from R.H. Babbage, a political journalist. Also included is a 1935 election flyer, an outline of a series of lectures, the April 1934 edition of "The Canadian New Leader", a small circulation, socialist newspaper, a four page essay by Eugene Forsey, and a one page letter from Hugh Pearson. Also a scrapbook which consists of newsprint, letters from Frank Scott in 1948, from Eugene Forcey in 1987 and fron Stanley Knowles in 1997, congratulatory letters to Hugh Pearson on his 90th birthday from Governor General Romeo LeBlanc and Prime Minister Jean Chrétien and a 1934 photograph of J.S. Woodsworth.

Pearson, Hugh, 1909- : Born 1909 in Lachine, Québec, Hugh Pearson was active in the CCF from its founding in 1935. In the 1930's he was secretary of the Quebec CCF Provincial Council and closely associated with Frank Scott, Eugene Forsey, Leonard Marsh, King Gordon and David Lewis. Hugh was active in a number of election campaigns in Montreal during the War years including David Lewis' federal by-election campaign in Cartier in 1943.

In 1946 Hugh and his family moved to Western Canada and in 1948 he began working for the Saskatchewan Government Insurance Office as its chief accountant.

After eight years working for the T.C. Douglas administration in Saskatchewan, Hugh moved back to Montreal in 1956... where he worked in the insurance industry and for eight years was the Executive Director of the Society for Emotionally Disturbed Children.

In 1979 Hugh and his family moved to Victoria. He was active in the Saanich and the Islands Constituency Association in the 1980s.
