Item consists of a journal kept from August 1853 to March 1854 during a tour of North America, including Halifax, Quebec City, Mexico, Florida and Washington. The journal describes the author's travel arrangements and sights seen, and provides descriptions of scenes sketched. This material is located on microfilm reel A-1716.

Drury-Lowe, William Drury Nathaniel, 1828-1906 : William Drury Nathaniel Drury-Lowe was born in 1828, the son of William Drury Holden (later Lowe) of Denby and Locke, Derbyshire. W.D.N. Drury-Lowe served as a Lieutenant in the 3rd Regiment of Dragoons between 1855 and 1860. He married Lady Lucy Needham in 1876, and served as High Sherriff of Derbyshire in 1893.
