Fonds consists of the McEachern family papers: an exercise book, accounts, diaries and some notes on family history. The main portion of the papers consists of diaries for the period 1859-1901 which were begun by John McEachern and continued by Lauchlan and Dougald McEachern. They concern crops, weather and family affairs. There are mentions of current events such as the U.S. Civil war and disappointment in the results of a P.E.I. land tenure commission in 1866. There are notes on McEachern family history prepared by John McEachern in 1850. This material is located on microfilm reel M-5506.

McEachern (family) : The McEachern family was a farm family at Canoe Cover, P.E.I. The first family member to come to Canada was Dougald who landed in 1830 and received a 300 acres lease for 999 years.
