Collection consists of the microfilmed documents of the Antiquarian and Numismatic Society of Montreal including extensive records of merchants, lawyers, educators, and persons prominent in the business and social life of the city. Approximately a third of the Society's collections were microfilmed. This material is located on microfilm reels M-847 to M-853, M-869 to M-872, M-1005, M-1007 to M1010g, M-1357 to M-1381.

Numismatic and Antiquarian Society of Montreal : In December 1862 a group of scholars headed by Adélard J. Boucher and Stanley C. Bagg founded the Numismatic Society of Montreal. Very early however, the organization widened their framework to include archaeological studies. In 1866, the name was changed to the Antiquarian and Numismatic Society of Montreal. The group had three objectives: to promote the study of archeology and numismatics; to form a research collection; and to set up a library for the use of its members.

The Society approached the city of Montreal in 1893, with the idea of establishing a municipal museum. In 1895 the city bought the Chateau Ramezay and rented the premises to the Society for this purpose. In 1929, in exchange for its library, the Society became owner of the Chateau. In the 1960s, under the initiative of David Macdonald Stewart, the museum was restored and acquisitions increased. The museum was accredited by the Quebec Ministry for Cultural Affairs in 1978 and has since undertaken archeological work in the town of Montreal.
