Fonds consists of correspondence, minutes of meetings and reports, financial material, pamphlets relating to weightlifting, and documents concerning athletes, coaches & referees, n.d., 1952-1983.

The fonds also contains group portraits of the Canadian Weightlifting Federation team attending the 1977 and 1976 Junior World and European Championships; and portraits of various Canadian weightlifters, [ca. 1976].

Canadian Weightlifting Federation : The Canadian Weightlifting Federation was first organized as a section of the Amateur Athletic Union of Canada in 1921. It was created to encourage and develop the widest participation and the highest proficiency for weightlifting in Canada. It extended to all organized and affiliated weightlifting activities within the boundaries of Canada and all Canadian teams at International Games, Tournaments and World Championships. The Canadian Weightlifting Federation became an autonomous organization in 1970. Until this time, the C.W.F. and most other competitive sports in Canada were member organizations of the A.A.U. of C. in as much as it ensured a strict amateur code for sports. The A.A.U. of C. was dissolved in 1972. Since 1972, the C.W.F. has been affiliated with the International Weightlifting Federation.
