Fonds consists of subject files, Atii Training Incorporated papers and publications. The subject files include: correspondence, memoranda, minutes of meetings, programs and presentations concerning the aims and objectives of the Association; relations with other Inuit organizations and associations such as the Native Advisory Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and the Indian and Inuit Nurses of Canada; the film, Midwifery in the Canadian Arctic, and presentations on sealing and its importance to the Inuit, 1979-1989. The Atii Training Incorporated papers contains files on programs for Inuit women, 1988-1990. The publications consist of annual reports 1984-1990, copies of Suvaguuq, 1985-1991 and issues of Northern Women Talk for 1987.

Inuit Women's Association of Canada : Pauktuutit grew out of the Inuit Tapirisat where Inuit women felt that they needed an organization which particularly represented their concerns. The founding meeting was held in 1983 at Frobisher Bay (now Iqaluit). By 1984 they were incorporated and had established headquarters in Ottawa. The Association is entitled to a seat on the Inuit Tapirisat's Board of Directors.

Their aim is to be recognized as the official political action group of Inuit women, to familiarize their children with the Inuit heritage, language and culture, to work to better the conditions of Inuit women and to encourage them to take their place in society and to better individual, family and community conditions.

Annual General Meetings are held with representatives of local Inuit women's groups across the Arctic. Specialized meetings such as "Inuit Women and Economic Development" held in 1985 at Igloolik are held from time to time.

In 1985 the Association launched the newsletter "Suvaguuq".
