Upton, John T., 1870-1943 : John Upton was an immigrant from England, who began to work for Dawes Black Horse Brewery circa 1900. Later he moved on to William Dow & Co. as office manager. He ended his career in the brewing industry as a manager for National Breweries, retiring in 1936. Upton was president of The National Breweries Employees' Association 1921-1925, and 1927-1929. He also active in amateur sports in Montreal serving as president of the Montreal Soccer Players Mutual Benefit Association.
