The fonds brings together transcript and typescript copies of selected records relating to the granting of land in the province of New Brunswick between 1763 and 1860. The records identify allocations made in the two decades before the creation of New Brunswick as a separate colony, as well as the assignment of lands to Loyalist settlers in the new province after 1784, and certain Acadian claims to lands. Researchers should note that the Abstracts provide only a summary of details from each petition; the original petitions (now preserved at the Provincial Archives) may contain additional information.
