Item is a journal attributed to an officer of the 47th Regiment, covering Carleton's campaign, April to October 1776, pp. 1-26, and Burgoyne's campaign, May to October 1777, pp. 27-116. Included are letters, orders, returns, and tables of information concerning the troops. Five pages of notes on the attribution serve as a preface to the journal; an extract from the Journal of the United States Infantry Association concerning the journal is included in the volume, 121 pages.
