Kerrigan, Richard J : Richard John Kerrigan, labour leader, was active in the Knights of Labour in Montreal and, later, in the One Big Union. He also belonged to the Socialist Labor Party in the 1890s. An employee of the Singer Sewing Machine Company for twenty-five years prior to his death, he was an early member of the International Association of Machinists (Victoria Lodge 111), becoming its local secretary in 1898 and acting as a delegate to various labour conventions in Canada and the United States. He was married to Helen Boyle with three daughters.
