The fonds consists of copies of the church's family register, ca. 1891-ca. 1932, which contains records of births, 1827-1932, a few marriages, 1872-1915, and a few deaths, 1899-1916, as well as some first communions, 1863-1913; of church minute books, 1919-1961; of the priest's record of the minutes and account books of the Volksverein deutsch-canadischer Katholiken (after 1949, St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Society), 1929-1965.

St. Joseph's Church (Balgonie, Sask. : Roman Catholic) : St. Joseph's parish was organized by German Roman Catholics who arrived from southern Russia as early as 1886. They built their first church in 1888, which was served occasionally by priests from Regina. The first resident pastor, who arrived in 1892, also served parishes in Vibank, Sedley, St. Peter's, and Arat. St. Joseph's was officially erected as a parish in 1894. The parish organized a number of associations, including a Volksverein deutsch-canadischer Katholiken, established in 1928.
