Kirkpatrick, Sir George Airey, 1841-1899 (family) : Sir George Airey Kirkpatrick, born in Kingston, Ont., was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. George Kirkpatrick was called to the bar of Upper Canada in 1864, and practised law in Kingston. He was a Conservative member of Parliament for Frontenac, 1870-1896, Speaker of the House of Commons, 1883-1887, and Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario, 1892-1896. He was a Lieutenant-Colonel, Frontenac Battalion of Infantry and was active as a businessman in the Kingston and Pembroke Railway, the Kingston Waterworks, and the Canadian Locomotive Works.
