Lucas, Louise, 1885-1945 : Louise Lucas, sometimes referred to as the mother of the C.C.F. movement in Saskatchewan, served as a director and president of the Women's Section of the United Farmers of Canada, Saskatchewan Section. In 1935, she unsuccessfully contested the federal constitutency of the Battlefords and in 1940 that of Melville. She was a candidate again in 1944, but was forced to withdraw because of ill health.
