The fonds also contains photographs depicting activities of Dr. Cambron as a member of the Division of Chemistry, National Research Council, Toronto, [ca. 1930-1951].

Cambron, A. (Adrien), 1894-1952 : Adrien Cambron was born in Sherbrooke, Qué. on 5 March 1894. He graduated from Collège St. Charles in Sherbrooke in 1916 with a B.A. He then studied briefly at Ecole Polytechnique and McGill University before joining the Royal Air Force in 1917. He returned to McGill to obtain his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 1921 and his M.Sc. in 1923. Cambron joined the research department of Roessler and Hasslacher Chemical Company of New Jersey. He remained there until 1929 specializing in the synthesis of organic chemicals except to return to McGill to obtain his Ph.D. in 1928.

Cambron joined the National Research Council (NRC) as an Associate Research Chemist in January 1930. He did research on rubber and seed disinfectants but his main interest was in petroleum chemistry. Cambron worked on methods of separating hydrocarbon groups by cracking and pyrolysis. He also investigated paraffins, ethylene, ethylene oxide and other petroleum based products. During World War II Cambron worked on fuel and ethylene oxide problems as well as being on the executive of the RDX explosive and synthetic rubber research committees. As a member of the Combined Intelligence Objectives Subcommittees (CIOS), he visited German chemical plants at the end of the war.

In 1946 Cambron was made Assistant Director of the Applied Chemistry Section of the Chemistry Division. When Applied Chemistry was made a separate division in 1950, he was its first director. During this time Cambron and his staff were developing a silver catalyst that could directly produce ethylene oxide, a basic feedstock of the chemical industry. A pilot plant was built and successfully tested but it was superceeded by other methods of ethylene oxide production. Cambron died on 22 February 1952 after a very short illness.
