Fonds consists of diaries, 1915-1919 and a military notebook of Lieutenant Francis Harold Paull of the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles. The diaries cover his training and the courses taken in London, Ont., the journey to France and the continuing training at the front. In the diary entries, Paull emphasizes the value of courses and ruminates on the course and nature of the war.

Biography/Administrative history:

Paull, Francis Harold : Francis Harold Paull, military officer and Anglican minister, was born at London, Ont. and was educated at Central Collegiate, London and at Trinity College, University of Toronto. In 1916, he enlisted in the Canadian Militia and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. He went to England and then to France in 1917, with the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles.

After being wounded twice, he returned to Canada in January 1919. Re-entering Trinity College, he completed his education and was ordained an Anglican minister in 1922. He spent the following forty-three years serving parishes in the Huron diocese. He retired in 1965.
