Garner, Albert Coleman, 1878- : Albert Coleman Garner, military officer, surveyor and civil engineer, was born in England. He was district surveyor for the Saskatchewan government, 1907-1910, and practised privately, 1910-1912. He entered the Armed Forces in 1914 as a lieutenant-colonel. He was commanding officer of several battalions including the 195th Battalion, the Labour Battalion, and in 1917, the 12th Battalion of the Canadian Railway Troops. He led an exploration party in northern Saskatchewan for the provincial government, 1920-1921.

He was active in the Canadian Militia, municipal and community affairs, and wrote articles on engineering history.
