The fonds consists of a copy of a circuit book of the Pembroke Circuit of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. It includes a record of baptisms, 1841-1843 (pages 2-5); salary of ministers each year, 1840-1844 (page 6); financial records of the quarterly meeting, 1851-1854 (pages 7-8); the chairman's claim per year, 1841 (page 9); minutes of quarterly conferences held alternately at Pembroke and Westmeath, 1841-1851 (pages 10-29); and a list of [ingredients for a medicinal recipe], undated (page 30).

Pembroke, Ont.: Pembroke (Wesleyan Methodist) Circuit : The Pembroke Circuit of the Wesleyan Methodist Church was established in Renfrew County, Upper Canada, in 1835 with the Reverend George B. Butcher (fl.1835-1847) as its first circuit preacher. Under his ministry it reached a membership of 25 by 1837. From 1848 to 1859 it was included in the Westmeath Mission under the care, initially, of the Reverend Henry Shaler (ca. 1799-1894), but in 1860 Pembroke was divided from Westmeath, with the Reverend James Masson ([1825]-1908) as its minister. When the several Methodist connexions in Canada united in 1874 to form the Methodist Church of Canada, Pembroke came under the jurisdiction of that Church's Montreal Conference.
