Item is a letter dated 1 May 1915 from the civic, military and religious leaders of Brant County, e.g., the Mayor of Brantford, the Warden of Brant County, and others, addressed to the Chiefs of the Six Nations Indians expressing their appreciation for the contributions not only of the late Lieutenant Cameron Daniel Brant, who died in the Second Battle of Ypres, but for all Native Canadians who have fought for Canada.

Brant, Cameron Daniel, 1887-1915 : The Six Nations, is another term for the Iroquois, consisting of a confederacy of 6 tribes, the Seneca, Cayuga, Oneida, Onondaga and Mohawk, and later in the eighteenth century, the Tuscarora, orinally inhabiting the northern part of New York State. Members of the Six Nations fought alongside other Canadians during World War I. One member was Lieutenant Cameron D. Brant, a descendant of Joseph Brant (Thayendanegea), a Mohawk chief of the eighteenth century. The Canadian Encyclopedia 2000. p. 292 and 2169.
