TO MEND THE WORLD is a film which presents the Holocaust through the eyes and hearts of artists who are concentration camp survivors. Producer Rasky located hundreds of impressive paintings, never before seen publicly, by these artists. The program shows how these artists have found a way of giving form to positive life forces even as they endured the undurable. A cross-section of first-person eyewitness accounts provides additional drama and, Canadian philosopher Emil Fackenheim attempts to give some meaning and perspective to the events. The film features music recorded during The Precious Legacy, the Royal Ontario Museum's exhibition of Jewish artifacts hoarded during the war. There are selections from Early Hebraic Music, the Golden Age of Hazzanuth, and Yiddish Songs: Art and Folk, all performed by leading cantors.Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
