Royce, Marion V. (Marion Victoria), 1901- : Marion Victoria Royce, born in 1901 at St. Thomas, Ont., received her M.A. from the University of Toronto in 1940. She was the National Girls' Work Secretary of the Religious Education Council of Canada responsible for the Canadian Girls in Training program, 1928-1932. Following this she taught for eight years at Moulton College, a private girls' school in Toronto, and was its principal, 1952-1954. She was Secretary for Social and International Questions for the World Young Women's Christian Association, 1942-1952, stationed in Geneva, Switzerland. Her first assignment was to study the effect of the war on the life of women and her findings were published in pamphlet form in 1945.

Marion Royce was the founding Director of the Women's Bureau, Department of Labour, 1954-1967. In this capacity she represented Canada on the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, 1958-1960, and was a member of the Canadian delegation to the International Labour Conference, 1964 and 1965. She published numerous articles and pamphlets concerning the education of women and other topics. She was appointed Officer, Order of Canada in 1972; received an Honorary D.C.L. from Acadia University in 1975; awarded the Governor General's medal commemorating the 50th anniversary of the "Persons Case" in 1979. She was an honorary life member of the National Council of Women of Canada, the Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, and the Canadian Association for Adult Education.

Marion Royce lived in Toronto during the final years of her life and was employed, part-time, by the Department of History and Philosophy of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. She was associated with the Women in Canadian History Project, directed by Dr. Alison Prentice.
