Fonds consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings relating to Mr. Cohen's activities on the War time Prices and Trade Board, his trade mission to Europe in 1962, personal correspondence with Leonard Cohen (poet), and letter of condolence on Mrs. Lyon Cohen's death.

The fonds also contains photographs of Horace Cohen primarily concerning his activities in Israel, [1950-1960].

Cohen, Horace Rives, 1895-1984 : Horace R. Cohen, business executive, was born in Montreal on February 12th, 1895, the son of Rachel and Lyon Cohen (see Lyon Cohen MG 30, C 141). He was educated at McGill University receiving his B.A. degree and Diploma of Commerce. He served overseas in World War I as a Captain and was the Administrator, Fine clothing Wartime Prices and Trade Board during World War II. He was awarded the O.B.E. in July 1946. Cohen was President of the Freedman Co., manufacturer's of men's clothing.

Cohen served as Hon. President of the United Talmud Torahs of Montreal, and is a past president of the Baron de Hirsch Institute, the Jewish General Hospital, Jewish Immigrant Aid Services and the Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue. He was awarded the Solomon Schecter Medal for ethical leadership in 1959.
