Fonds consists of microfilm of selected scrapbooks compiled by Grant containing clippings, 1866-1950, from Victoria, Barrie, and Toronto newspapers, and other publications. Many clippings are of Grant's own journals, including letters to editors and his reminiscences of life in Barrie. Also included are clippings relating to lacrosse and other sports, and to politics, business and society in Simcoe County, Toronto and Victoria. Included are publications concerning the Collier Street United Church, Barrie, 1936; the Collegiate Institute, Barrie, 1943; and the County of Simcoe, n.d., 1866. This material is located on microfilm reels M-295 to M-296.

Grant, Fred Walker : Fred Walker Grant, local historian and newspaper compositor, was born and educated in Barrie, Ont. Although he spent most of his life in Victoria, B.C., he remained interested in the history of Simcoe County, and contributed historical and personal accounts of life there to the Barrie Examiner. He was also involved in athletic sports in his youth and in his later years, wrote verse.
