Fonds consists of correspondence of Thomas Langton while at school at Upper Canada College concerning exams, school plays and expenses, 1863; correspondence while on vacation at Baddeck, Cape Breton, 1886 and in Italy and Switzerland, 1888; a letter from Lydia Langton, his mother, expressing her desire to move to Canada's new capital, Ottawa, in 1864; journal mantained by Langton during his trip to Italy, including photographs and sketches as well as an extensive commentary on his travels, 1907.

Langton, Thomas, 1849-1914 : Lawyer

Thomas Langton was the eldest son of John Langton, the Auditor General of Canada, 1855-1878. He was educated at Upper Canada College and the University of Toronto where he received an M.A. in 1871 and L.L.D. in 1874. He was called to the bar in 1872 and in 1878 he went into partnership with Sir Oliver Mowatt. He edited with G.S. Holmtead the Judicature Act of Ontario and the Consolidated Rules of Practice, and Procedure of the Supreme Court of Canada.
