Fonds consists of printed petitions and memoranda forwarded to Lord Seymour, asking that the Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians) be given its former name, the Prince of Wales' Royal Canadian Regiment, and that a recruiting depot for this unit be established in Canada.

Seymour, William, Lord, 1838-1915 : Lord William Frederick Ernest Seymour was born in London, England, the son of Admiral Sir George Francis Seymour. He entered the Royal Navy in 1851 and in 1854 joined the Second Battalion of the Coldstream Guards. After service in the Crimea between 1854 and 1856, he became attaché to the Lieutenant-General commanding the British troops in Canada. He assumed this post himself in 1898 and served until 1900.
