Fonds consists of original census records of the parish of Douglas, 1851 and 1861, and the Parish of Queensbury, 1851, 221 pages. The original,1851, census returns of the Parish of Queensbury (53 pages) is also available on microfilm reel C-998. The original 1851 and 1861 census returns for the Parish of Douglas (168 pages) are also available on microfilm reel C-998. Note that the 1851 returns for Douglas is titled as population 1850 but was signed by the enumerator in November 1851. Microfilm reel M-556 contains the 1861 census returns for District 2 of the Parish of Douglas.

General note:

Census of the parish of Douglas, 1851, received in 1918, was formerly part of the Delancey Robinson collection. Census of the parish of Douglas, 1861, was microfilmed from the original held by Miss Louise Hill, Fredericton, N.B.

For preservation reasons, the original returns have been withdrawn from circulation. Researchers must use reel C-998. Reel C-998 can be duplicated for sales according to the policies as for census records in RG 31. To duplicate Reel M-556 researchers must contact the appropriate custodial institution, specifying the township, and the year of the returns.
