Bristol (Family) : Henry Bristol (d. 1695) and his wife Lydia Brown (d. 1719) emigrated from England to Connecticut in the late 17th century. In 1793, John Bristol (1757-1847), his wife Elsie Aylworth (1787-1858) and their two children immigrated to Canada and settled at Ernesttown. In 1878, their grand-daughter Catherine Bristol (1854-1936) married Herbert James Saunders (1847-1896), Professor of Clinical Medicine at Queen's University, Kingston.

Another prominent member of this family was the Rt. Hon. Sir Allen Bristol Aylesworth (1854-1952), who was Postmaster General 1905-1906, Minister of Justice 1906-1911 and was called to the Senate in 1923.
