Collection consists of a transcript (16 pages) of the diary of John Walker describing his experiences as a Methodist lay preacher in England, 1807-1812 and his immigration to North America, 1835. A genealogical chart of the Walker family, 1780-1952, precedes the text and was added when the diary was transcribed.

Walker, John, 1780-1856 : John Walker was a maltster and Methodist lay preacher in England. In 1820, he married Elizabeth Hextall (1790-1881), and in 1835, they and their children immigrated to Guelph, Ont., via New York, on board the Queen Adelaide a U.S. merchant ship.
