The entrybook forming this fonds has two sections, each of which includes a rudimentary index. From the front (paginated 1-283), Pringle used it as a letterbook to record his correspondence; from the back (138 pages), he used it to record military orders, 1768-1778. Within the latter section, pages 16-114 relate to events in North America, 1757-1761, while the remainder of the entries relate to Pringle's career during the Martinique campaign, 1762-1763, and in Europe.

Pringle, Henry, ca. 1727-1799 : Henry Pringle, a native of Caledon, Ireland, pursued a career in the British Army, rising to rising to the rank of major-general in 1782 and appearing in the Army List at that rank through 1799. He served as lieutenant and captain with the 27th Regiment in North America from 1757 to 1761, and was for a time, a prisoner of war at Quebec, then on the Martinique campaign, 1762-1763.
