Fonds consists of three letters from Henry Motz to Charles Blake and the Medical Board at Montreal regarding correct procedure in the issuance of examination certificates, with one draft reply transmitting certificates, 1788, 10 pages; letters of Jonathan Sewell to John Reid enclosing resolutions of a Committee of the House of Assembly regarding the House of Correction for Montreal District, 1802, 4 pages; letter of James McGill to Charles Blake and other justices of the peace's of Montreal regarding the House of Correction with a draft reply, 1803, 7 pages. Also included is "Rules and Orders for the Regulation of the House of Correction in the District of Montreal...", September 1802, 8 pages.

Blake, Charles, 1746-1810 : Charles Blake was a surgeon with the British Army and prominent in the medical profession of Quebec. He served as an examiner with the Medical Board at Montreal under the licencing act of 1788, as a Justice of the Peace for Montreal from 1797, and as a member of the Commission for the erection of a gaol or house of correction at Montreal from 1802 until his death 22 April 1810.
