Stewart, John, ca. 1794-1858 : John Stewart, politician, served in the Militia during the War of 1812. In 1825, he was appointed to the Legislative Council of Lower Canada and in 1826, to the Executive Council, retiring from the former in 1838, and the latter in 1841. He was a commissioner for the administration of the Jesuit Estates from 1815.
