Fonds consists of a journal of Henry Hamilton's expedition to Vincennes, his capture and imprisonment, 6 August 1778-16 June 1779, photocopy, 150 pages; reminiscences of his early military career, 1755-1762, written in 1792, photocopy, 130 pages; three letters to Henry Hamilton from Evan Nepean, Undersecretary of State for the Home Department, to introduce Lt. Ralph Henry Bruyeres of the Corps of Engineers and Capt. John William A. Romer of the 31st Regiment, and concerning Hamilton's removal from office, 1785, 6 pages.

Hamilton, Henry, d. 1796 : Henry Hamilton, a career soldier, was in command at Detroit in 1775. In 1779 he was captured at Vincennes, imprisoned in Virginia, and exchanged in 1781. Following his term as lieutenant-governor and administrator of Quebec, 1784-1785, he served as governor of the Bermudas and Dominica.
