Fonds consists of genealogical notes, charts and information, historical notes, birth and death certificates, marriage documents, baptism records and the coat of arms of the Kittson families of Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia, 1756-1986. Of interest is the relationship between the Kittson family and several fur traders, notably Alexander Henry.

Kittson, Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia (family) : George Kittson (c. 1780-1832) married Ann Tucker (b. circa 1780) in 1801. The issue of this marriage was six sons and three daughters. In 1809, George was appointed a Justice of the Peace. From 1813 to 1818 he served as Commissariat Clerk at Chambly. He later worked for the Bank of Canada. George died of cholera in 1832. George's father, John George Kittson, had been an officer in the British Army and had come to Canada from Ireland in 1759 with General Wolfe's Army. He served in the Seige at Quebec.

John George and his second wife, Julia Calcutt, had made several trips to Canada. During their last trip, taken on separate ships, George was born. Upon arrival, Julia learned that her husband had died at sea of typhoid fever. She was sent to Montreal to live in barracks for officer's wives and families. In 1785, she married the fur trader Alexander Henry, by whom she had two sons and one daughter.
