Each page shows several Army Numerical series photographs. These depict Canadian Army operations in Italy from 2 January- 6 February 1944. The photographs are arranged numerically and (roughly) chronologically. The range of Army Numerical photographs in this album cover item numbers 28341 to 29539, with gaps. This print album was originally used for DND photo reference purposes and may show censor marks, and other notations.Additional information:General note:The prints in this album document Canadian army activities in Italy from January to early February 1944. Subjects photographed include personnel and equipment, mountainous operations of the First Special Service Force personnel, de-mining operations, the work of spotting aircraft, Canadian army and Allied military leadership, wounded soldiers in hospitals and first-aid facilities, surgery, soldiers and nursing sisters onboard the Canadian hospital ship LADY NELSON, ruined villages, the liberation of villages and towns, the military cemetery where Dec. 1943 casualties of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada were buried, and general entertainment/performances provided for soldiers.Related material:The b&w safety negatives for photographs found in this album (numbers 28341 to 29539) can be found in CANADA.
