The item is a pane of Japanese postage stamps issued jointly with Canada Post Corporation to mark the centenary of the publication of Anne of Green Gables (1908). The item is a gift from the President of the National Archives of Japan to the Librarian and Archivist of Canada.

Philatelic note:

The pane features 10 stamps. The two top stamps are similar to the Canadian stamps issued on the same day. The remaining eight stamps depicts scenes from the Anne of Green Gables animated television series (50 episodes) produced by Nippon Animation and broadcasted in 1979.
