Scope and content:

A portrait of the Dionne Quintuplets at about the age of 4 in their nursery at Callander, Ontario. This work was reproduced as a calendar advertising Brown & Bigelow, St. Paul, Minn., see Accession Number 1986-38-1, Both the painting and the calendar are the copyright of NEA Service Inc. an American syndicate which bought world rights to take pictures of the Quints the day of their birth and Brown & Bigelow, a Div. of Atwater, Group Inc.., Andrew Loomis probably painted the work from photographs of the Quints and their home, school etc., After the Quintuplets were reunited with their family in 1943 the painting hung in their living room.
