Fisher, including depictions of First Nations students of various boarding schools and their communities.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Fisher, George W., 1887-1948 : George W. Fisher was born in St. Alban's, England in 1887 and moved to Canada with his parents. In 1916 he married Mary Ostler of Hamilton, Ontario. He studied at Wycliffe College in Toronto and was ordained an Anglican Church minister in 1915. He spent the next five years doing parish work in Devon, New Brunswick, thereafter doing missionary work for the Diocese of Saskatchewan and working for the Episcopal Church in Minnesota. In 1929 he became the principal of All Saints' Indian Residential School in Lac La Ronge, Saskatchewan. Circa 1946 he spent a year as the principal of Sioux Lookout School. In February 1947 the Anglican residential school at Lac La Ronge burned down and the staff and students moved to Prince Albert. The Reverend Fisher became principal of St. Alban's, the residential school in Prince Albert, in September 1947. He died on December 30, 1948.Additional information:Arrangement note:The film reels were received originally on 10 separate reels.
