The series documents Irene Spry's long association with the University of Ottawa as a Professor and Professor Emeritus, which began in 1968. Correspondence files cover her appointment, the workings of the Department of Economics, and her terms on the Board of Governors and University Senate. Files relating to her honorary doctorates from the University of Toronto (1971) and University of Ottawa (1985) reveal the growing recognition of her achievements and include letters of congratulations from notable figures like Tommy Douglas, Vincent Bladen, and E. P. Neufeld, among others.
