Motor Vehicle Transport Committee : The Motor Vehicle Transport Committee enforced the motor vehicle provisions of the National Transportation Act. It had other administrative responsibilities under the Atlantic Region Freight Assistance Act and the Lord's Day Act (repealed in 1984). Between 1968 and 1972 the Canadian Transport Commission's activity in the field of motor transport was restricted almost entirely to the Motor Vehicle Transport Committee and consisted of granting or denying approval of any acquisition of an interprovincial truck line by another company and granting or denying exemptions to the Lord's Day Act (Canadian Transport Commission Annual Report 1968-1972). The Committee consisted of not less than three Commissioners, exclusive of the President who was an ex officio member the committee. The Committee employed its own records system.
