Water Transport Committee : When the Canadian Transport Commission was established in1967, former members of the Canadian Maritime Commission were appointed Commissioners and the staff and records of the Canadian Maritime Commission became part of the Canadian Transport Commission (Canadian Transport Commission Annual Report 1968). The newly created Water Transport Committee had jurisdiction on water transportation as prescribed by the National Transportation Act which applies to the conveyance of goods and passengers by boat from a port or location in Canada to another located within selected geographical areas. The Committee consisted of not less than three Commissioners, exclusive of the President who was an ex officio member the committee. Under the Pilotage Act (19-20-21 Eliz. II, c. 52) of 1972, the Water Transport Committee of the Canadian Transport Commission became responsible for pilotage tariffs and tolls. The Water Transport Committee employed its own records system, while incorporating and maintaining the records inherited from its predecessor.
