Fonds consists of a letter from W.L. Mackenzie King expressing sympathy on the death of Lady Mulock, photocopy, 11 pages; confidential memorandum and letter from Harvey Prentice Dwight, president of the Great Northwestern Telegraph Company of Canada, discussing government ownership of telegraphs and cables, dated 8 January 1902, enclosed in a letter from Dwight to H.R. Holmden, dated 17 September 1906, 10 pages; and a scrapbook containing clippings and notes on statements of Conservative Party leaders and on tariff reduction, 73 pages.

Mulock, William, Sir, 1844-1944 : The Rt. Hon. Sir William Mulock, born at Bondhead, Canada West, was educated at the University of Toronto. He was called to the bar in 1868 and practised law in Toronto. He was a Liberal member of Parliament, 1882-1905, serving as postmaster general, 1896-1905, and minister of Labour, 1900-1905. He became chief justice, Exchequer Division, Ontario, 1905-1923, and chief justice of Ontario, 1923-1936. See: Johnson, Directory of Parliament, p. 381.
