Robertson, Alexander, 1838-1888 : Alexander Robertson, born at Trenton, Upper Canada, was educated at Belleville. He was called to the bar in 1864 and practised law in Belleville. He was director, Hastings Building and Loan Society, and Mayor of Belleville, 1870, 1878-1879. He was a member of Parliament, representing Hastings West from 1882 until his death in 1888. See: Johnson, Directory of Parliament, p. 494.
