Fonds consists of one commercial Air Pilot's Certificate, 1930-1932, and three R.C.A.F. Pilot's Flying Log Books, 1928-1934, 1937-1938 and 1940-1961.

Fonds also consists of photographs of Rutledge inspecting Royal Canadian Air Force bases at Gimli, Manitoba; Penhold, Alberta; Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; and Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

Rutledge, Herbert Hugh Carvell : Herbert Hugh Carvell Rutledge was born 19 November 1919 at Wawanesa, Manitoba. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at Camp Borden, 4 June 1928 and was taken on permanently 15 February 1934. Rutledge was on flying duties at Lac du Bonnet, Ottawa, and Winnipeg and on the east coast with a bomber reconnaissance unit. He was sent overseas in April 1944 where he was posted to No.6 Group and the RCAF Overseas Headquarters. He returned to Canada in 1946 and later commanded Station Trenton and was air attache to Sweden. Rutledge attained Air Commodore rank in January 1953 and in August 1955 made Group Commander, 14 Training Group, Winnipeg. He retired in 1961. Rutledge died in May 1987.
