Footage shows, and diagrams are used to explain, how unrefined molten nickel stainless steel is converted into finished stainless steel at the Jessop Steel Company plant in Washington, Pennsylvania, the first American steel refinery to adopt the system. Jessop's general superintendent, Andy Denuzio, appears and claims the system conserves energy, reduces the demand for gaseous oxygen, improves temperature control, shortens refining time, and improves productivity since much manual labour is replaced with automated monitors. Footage also shows nickel oxide Sinter 75, the material which is injected into the Argon oxygen decarbonization refining vessel five minutes into the burn. <10mn>Language:EnglishDetailed holdings information: -
