He describes the holdup of a liquor store in Sarnia, Ontario in May 1936 by Norman Red Ryan, a notorious criminal, and Norman Checkley, who both died in the incident. Ryan's case was sensational because he had recently been released from prison and was on parole at the time of the robbery.
