Compilation of news reports about allegations of conflict of interest concerning Sinclair M. Stevens, the Minister of Regional Economic Expansion, who was accused of using his government influence to secure favourable deals for his private businesses and those of his wife, Noreen Stevens.~The first report is from THE NATIONAL of February 18, 1987. Alison Smith reports that Shirley Walker's lawyer says Walker has become a victim of the Sinclair Stevens inquiry and that she has been portrayed as a liar. The report shows: stockshots of Walker walking; Walker at inquiry on July 22, 1986; clip of Parker Commission chief counsel David Scott stating that Walker has been an untruthful witness; clip of Shirley Walker's lawyer Donald Jack; various shots of the inquiry; and clip of Jake Howard, lawyer for Magna International Inc.~The next report is by Marina Mirabella for THE NATIONAL of February 18, 1987. It is about the final submissions to the inquiry. The report shows: clip of Tom Lockwood, Noreen Stevens' lawyer, stating that evidence is clear that she did not discuss affairs of the York Centre Corporation with Sinclair Stevens and that she acted properly as a barrister; stock footage of Shirley Walker; Shirley Walker's notebook; and clip of Donald Jack, Walker's lawyer, stating that arguments against her were conclusions drawn from preliminary stages of the inquiry.~The third report is by Alison Smith for THE NATIONAL of February 19, 1987. Lawyers representing several prominent businessmen who testified at the inquiry state that their clients' reputations were damaged. The report shows: stock footage of Trevor Eyton, the president of Brascan Ltd., including a clip of him at the inquiry; clip of Eyton's lawyer Lorne Murphy; Anton Czapka walking; and a clip of Czapka's lawyer Peter Wardle.~The last report on this compilation tape is a report from February 20, 1987 by Alison Smith on the final arguments by Parker Commission chief counsel David Scott. <9mn 20s>
