This consists of seven interview and actuality cuts recorded for the CBC radio series Our Canada, telling the story of the ordinary people, events and developments in the railways, wheatlands, waterways, mines, airways, industries, communications, arts, governments, philanthropies and religions that have shaped Canada. A man describes the problems of loading cargo on ships as evenly as possible. Another man describes the Annapolis-Cornwallis Valley in Nova Scotia. An English-born man describes his emigration to Wolfville Nova Scotia in 1921 and his life as an apple grower and breeder of rabbits and foxes. A man speaks about the Pictou, Nova Scotia shipyard, begun in 1941. Real work started in the yard in January 1942. He describes the hardships entailed in building the ships at the yard. Many of the shipyard workers are farmers, Indians, fishermen and miners, rather than experienced builders. He expects the first ships to be built by October. There are 3 cuts of sounds of unidentified machinery.
