This consists of three interview cuts recorded for the CBC radio series Our Canada, telling the story of the ordinary people, events and developments in the railways, wheatlands, waterways, mines, airways, industries, communications, arts, governments, philanthropies and religions that have shaped Canada. An unidentified man describes the Canadian aluminum industry and its contribution to the Second World War effort. He comments on the loss of the aluminum industry's pre-war markets and the need for the Canadian industry, expanded during wartime, to find post-war markets in competition with other markets. He speculates on the post-war use of aluminum in transportation, particularly aviation, and by technologies such as radio and television. A Scottish-born man who moved to Canada in 1923 describes his experiences in Peterborough and Montreal. A man describes his 38-year career as a railway worker and as an official of two railway trade unions, the Brotherhood Railway Carmen of America and CPR Federated Trades. He describes the work of the unions.
