Description:

The shooting death of Ted Watkins, star player for the Hamilton Tiger Cats football team, is reviewed in this "Public Eye" documentary hosted by John Perehineo, a personal acquaintance of Watkins. Archival footage includes Watkins during a Grey Cup football game; his wife and four daughters; and the liquor store in Stockton, California (United States) where Watkins was killed and his brother Clifford wounded on June 2, 1968. The documentary includes excerpts of Larry Zolf's interview of Watkins for a 1967 "Public Eye" program and recent interviews with: Stockton's district Attorney, Laurance Drivon, who claims that the shooting of Ted was justifiable homicide; Clifford Watkins recalling events from his hospital bed and expressing his feelings after a court acquittal of the charge of robbery; and Clifford's lawyer, Lawrence Karlton, who reviews the incompetence of Stockton police, the unethical behavior of the Judge, and the racial causes of the incident. <60mn>
